British Competition Entry Procedures

British Tennis Membership and UK Rating

All players intending to enter competitions in the UK need to become British Tennis Members and have a UK rating (used to judge playing ability). To sign up for membership each player will need to follow the steps below:

  • Go to www.lta.org.uk/Members
  • Click on the ‘Join Today’ button in the ‘Club Membership’ box (green headings)
  • Fill out your personal details
  • When prompted for your ‘LTA Registered Place to Play’, type into ‘Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis & Squash Rackets Club’

Each player will then be given a British Tennis Membership number, an initial UK rating and details of how to set up their own personal online account.

Once you receive your initial UK rating, you will need to email info@lta.org.uk requesting a rating adjustment. Include in this email all evidence of your playing level; ranking, tournament results etc. The LTA will then assign the player a more accurate UK rating.
