BETA Player wins U14 Berkhamsted Open for second year in a row!
Ayaan Haneef, 13, won the annual Berkhamsted junior open event in the U14 category this past Easter weekend. Ayaan kept the trophy in the hands of the BETA team after last years victory by Reece Farrow.
Ayaan came through the tournament with the loss of only one set, which was in a tight quarter-final. Apart for that blip his tennis was virtually unmatched as he played some very aggressive tennis on the fast courts. BETA also had Justin Tracy, Cian Murphy, Joseph Playfoot and William Carrington competing this weekend at Berkhamsted, all of whom competed hard throughout the event. Justin finished 4th in the u12s, while 11 year old Cian finished runner up in the U14 consolation.
As well as out home event at Berkhamsted, BETA ran tournament camps over the 2 week Easter holidays, where we took players to compete in events at Gosling, Welwyn, Chesham 1879, Rickmansworth. Notable results included; Nicholas Blagg winning his way through to quarter-finals of the U14 boys at Rickmansworth while Josh Hayes made it through to his first county level final at Chesham 1879 in the U16 boys event.
Next we move on to Aegon team tennis over the next couple of months with men’s, women’s and a host of junior teams. Our Men’s and Women’s first teams both had convincing 12-0 wins in their first ties of the season and sit on the top of the league. The women have gained back to back promotions over the last 2 season and are now in the regional division, while the men are looking to gain promotion back into the regional division for the first time in 2 seasons.
Good luck to all our players competing this summer and stayed tuned for all the news and results!
